Thyra’s colours remind me of the west coast in the spring, all grey moody skies contrasted with bright yellow daffodils and forsythia. It reminds me of faith: with the spring comes the hope for summer, the belief that something better is just around the corner, all cheerful yellows to break the dismal grey clouds. I imagine Thyra’s personality to be that way, eternally optimistic and looking for the brighter days ahead. She is strong and perseveres, always focused on the good in life.
Thyra loves the beach. On this particular day it was sunny, spring bringing forth long wild grasses from the sand, washing up winter oysters and clams to the shore, wild migrating birds seeking shoals of fish offshore in a noisy tumult of splashing water and high pitched cries. Curiosity brought her to a driftwood fort away from the breeze, its wonderful to explore all the corners and sand pockets!
Her outfit is my favourite so far, it is hard to sell it! She comes wearing a cotton grey and yellow and white dress set, with many layers and patterns sewn together in vertical stripes. Her sleeves are short, and the dress closes with 2 clear flower shaped glass buttons on the back. She has bloomers underneath, and comes with Madeline Tosh grey crochet shoes with vintage iridescent glass buttons, as well as a yellow wool sweater (which I didn’t make but purchased from a talented Etsy seller: everything else was made by me).

Samara, my little gypsy wanderer! Traveling to distant beaches and mountains and meadows. An afternoon on a windy day here she discovered little spring purple flowers growing in the crevices, and lay watching the clouds for most of the afternoon. Everything is new to her and exciting! Samara is a little day dreamer, dancing to her own tune, in her own head much of the time imagining herself in tales. She loves stories and music and dancing! And sweet fruits… Little Samara loves figs!
She comes wearing a cotton gypsy inspired dress set, with many layers and lots of twirl for dancing! It has long sleeves, a lace trimmed bib adorning her bodice, and coral glass buttons for closure on the back, and an extra layer for petticoats underneath with cream coloured lacey layers. She has a coordinating pair of bloomers underneath. Her boots are brown velour lined in matching cotton, also with matching glass buttons.

Millie and Wren are pining for winter snow. Other parts of Canada seems to be getting heaps of fresh snow, but here on the west coast spring has sprung in torrents of rain!
It makes these two want to go outside and play in the snow that was here in January! Alas what can they do? Millie asks for another book and Wren is happy to oblige, since her nature is so charitable and nurturing.
Wren is the older of the two, and a bit more responsible and sensible. She loves her younger sister and enjoys reading to her immensely, but cannot wait for spring to emerge so she can go outside and chase butterflies! She is a bit quieter and a bit more solitary, and enjoys reading by herself when she can.
Millie is the younger of the two, a little bit used to getting her own way, however she loves being around her older sister Wren, even if she is a bit pushy. Its because she adores Wren, and wants her to play and read books to her all the time! She is very lively, and very fun, and likes adventure!
Both these lovely girls come to you wearing a three piece coordinating matching outfit of dress, pinafore and bloomers, as well as their winter woolies: shawl and boots.
If you would like to take either girl home, please see my etsy store! Wren is available here, and Millie here.
